I love scrapbooking babies! But, does anyone have less time to scrapbook than a new mother? I made this calendar for my niece to record her new baby's first year. It begins the month she was born. If/when I make another, it will be 13 months to include her first birthday. And, it will have journaling tags on every page. With this calendar, she can jot down the fun 'first year' events and milestones.<br />

Here is the cover:<br />

And how sweet is the quiet retreat after a trying year of work<i>. </i>I love my job. Really I do. But there are so many people. By this time of year, I am thoroughly peopled out and ready for dirt. And weeds. And worms. And creepy crawlies of every sort. <div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-M83393JFB3s/Uc5SYa-WtdI/AAAAAAAABGs/QDxEcr8VmKE/s640/blogger-image-1901683803.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-M83393JFB3s/Uc5SYa-WtdI/AAAAAAAABGs/QDxEcr8VmKE/s640/blogger-image-1901683803.jpg"></a>The modern, suburban yard doesn't really do it for me. I finally figured out how to layer it. I cut the base (p. 65 of the Artiste booklet) at 4 1/4 inches. This makes a perfect 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card. Then I changed the setting to mm instead of inches and cut "Thanks" at 1.40 mm. This layer fit right over the Thanks on the card, the discovery of which caused an outburst of joyous exuberance and much dancing about the studio. As soon as I press "post" I'm trying another new Artiste project. <div>

<span style="font-size: large;">These fun little cards and box, tag, and flowers were cut using the CTMH Artiste cartridge. The paper is CTMH Chantilly and the monogram is CTMH Token alphabet. I used a little piece of Velcro on the card flap. At first I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of shapes on this cartridge, but I'm having a good time experimenting with the hundreds of possibilities.</span><br />

Decorating mouse traps takes the whole paper crafting thing a step too far. But... If you can transform a mousetrap into a Victorian memo holder, why not do it? Just a hint before you try this yourself: don't stain the back of the mousetrap. The magnets don't adhere well on the stain. If you leave the back unstained and use E 6000 on the magnets, they'll stay stuck. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The paper is La Belle Vie by CTMH. Pretty much in love with it. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">After Zillions of mini albums it seems a few cards have made their way to the top of my crafting agenda. I am crazy about that little magazine-holder-card-box. It's a Cricut cut, so it's pretty easy. In fact, all the cuts are Cricut, except the bird cage. </span><br />

<br /></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I've been working on my Niece's wedding album. Most of the paper is GCD Paris Nights. Many of the swirls and tags are cut using the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. And, there are numerous scraps from the ever-growing embellishment heap in my scrap room.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9dLwBln7XNo/UBtEUq9Xb0I/AAAAAAAAA5g/Vg_j9gU0ZSo/s1600/DSC01428.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="299" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9dLwBln7XNo/UBtEUq9Xb0I/AAAAAAAAA5g/Vg_j9gU0ZSo/s320/DSC01428.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dYbAJ7sMiBE/UBtEWxQORYI/AAAAAAAAA5o/jGT0N3gJGvo/s1600/DSC01427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dYbAJ7sMiBE/UBtEWxQORYI/AAAAAAAAA5o/jGT0N3gJGvo/s320/DSC01427.JPG" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"> I love the black swirls and the "time to celebrate" tags. The swirls were cut from black glitter paper using the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge. The paper is thick and sturdy and the cuts are perfect.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oPvLiSEgEIs/UBtEZTIUi7I/AAAAAAAAA5w/3ALaJ3_VZ2I/s1600/DSC01424.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oPvLiSEgEIs/UBtEZTIUi7I/AAAAAAAAA5w/3ALaJ3_VZ2I/s320/DSC01424.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zw-el3BFibI/UBtEfujpMWI/AAAAAAAAA54/AqOP-4vh8D0/s1600/DSC01423.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="313" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zw-el3BFibI/UBtEfujpMWI/AAAAAAAAA54/AqOP-4vh8D0/s320/DSC01423.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;"> The swirls were stamped from a now-retired CTMH stamp. See the dress form in the bottom right hand corner? That was cut from using the CTMH Artiste cartridge. I think that new cartridge will get a lot of use. The butterfly wings behind the dress form was stamped using the CTMH Find Your Style stamp. That may be all-time favorite stamp.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B0ROMUoJGYg/UBtEh3iS3OI/AAAAAAAAA6A/-Lt8xxWTT5Q/s1600/DSC01422.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B0ROMUoJGYg/UBtEh3iS3OI/AAAAAAAAA6A/-Lt8xxWTT5Q/s320/DSC01422.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"> All of the letters were cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gVc9vY_XkA8/UBtEnhmIXYI/AAAAAAAAA6Q/plMV9neP7xE/s1600/DSC01419.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gVc9vY_XkA8/UBtEnhmIXYI/AAAAAAAAA6Q/plMV9neP7xE/s320/DSC01419.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">The border punch is EK success - I like how it goes with the paper. I made a few other pages, but I think these were my favorite.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-size: large;">This heat has me crafting. These cards were all made from CTMH paper pack, Pemberley and an assortment of stamps. Most of the cuts were made using the Art Philosophy Cartridge. The flowers on the box take less than a minute to make. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this about a million times, but I LOVE the Art Philosophy cartridge. The sunflowers and leaves are from May's stamp of the month - Friendship Bouquet. I didn't think I'd ever use that stamp so I didn't buy it. My sister did and I've borrowed it from her about a dozen times.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"> Love this butterfly! I cut it using the Art philosophy cartridge. I also used the cartridge for the circles, scalloped circles and the scallop on the corner.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Yet another mini-album inspired the really cool mini albums created by the<a href="http://www.fabulouslyartsy.com/2010/05/mini-scrapbook-video-series-end-is-in.html" target="_blank"> Fabulously Artsy, Tresa Black</a>. I've never used all the elements she teachers in her mini-album tutorials. It takes me forever to finish a project, so I just work at it until it isn't fun anymore and then I quit.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I LOVE this Typeset paper from Close To My Heart. The "Stickers" that go with the set are canvas - makes the album rich with texture. I've already made about twenty cards with this paper and I'm still not tired of it.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Here's my most recent baby girl album. Pretty similar to the last one I did, which follows Tresa Black's tutorial on <a href="http://www.fabulouslyartsy.com/">Fabulously Artsy</a>. <span style="font-size: large;"> Of course, once the CTMH 3-ring binder mini-album retired and the last album sold<span style="font-size: large;">, <span style="font-size: large;">my <span style="font-size: large;">love for it grew </span></span></span>into obs<span style="font-size: large;">ession.</span> <a href="http://www.fabulouslyartsy.com/">Tresa </a>Black is to blame. <span style="font-size: large;">Had I </span>never seen her <a href="http://www.fabulouslyartsy.com/2010/05/mini-scrapbook-video-series-end-is-in.html">tutorials</a> transforming ordinary albums into the EXTRAORDINARY, I woul<span style="font-size: large;">dn't have</span> rescued mine from the cupboard where they got<span style="font-size: large;"> sta<span style="font-size: large;">shed</span></span> right after purchase<span style="font-size: large;">.</span> Why did I only buy two??? </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: large;">This project was quick</span> - less than 3 hours total time. Using all of her amazing ideas would have taken longer, but<span style="font-size: large;"> my at<span style="font-size: large;">tention span only stretched to three hours</span></span>. So I applied a couple of her Fabulously Artsy suggestions, liberally plopped stickers throughout, and sprinkled in lots of love, and best wishes for a long and happy marriage. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I used the new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge,</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Bliss Paper pack and Stickease</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">and lots of ribbon, glitter, glue and stuff. If you want more details, email me and I'll be specific.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I'm off to beg fellow CTMH consultants to sell me their unused binders. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Happy Crafting!</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZYQOwb-vg-0/Ti4CEQGac-I/AAAAAAAAAjw/qJrQtfA14Yk/s1600/typeset_sw_l_328.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZYQOwb-vg-0/Ti4CEQGac-I/AAAAAAAAAjw/qJrQtfA14Yk/s320/typeset_sw_l_328.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E4PWEGhl4I0/Ti4F0ZyzdQI/AAAAAAAAAj0/xTWmAaAZKEM/s1600/typeset_aa_sp_r_700.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E4PWEGhl4I0/Ti4F0ZyzdQI/AAAAAAAAAj0/xTWmAaAZKEM/s320/typeset_aa_sp_r_700.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ilTROqbJk3A/Ti4F3q3hbqI/AAAAAAAAAj4/g1ZCRmnTZ40/s1600/typeset_aa_sp_l_700.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ilTROqbJk3A/Ti4F3q3hbqI/AAAAAAAAAj4/g1ZCRmnTZ40/s320/typeset_aa_sp_l_700.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>There are so many changes in the new Close To My Heart idea book. First there is the weight of the card stock. It's heavy - perfect for all the three-projects on the new CTMH Cricut cartridge. Second - it's two-sided. Each side has it's own beautiful and unique design. And third - it's cheaper - only $9.95 per packet. The packet sizes are perfect for making some layouts and a few projects without a bunch left over. I think the new size and price is going to be perfect for most crafters and scrapbookers.<br />
<br />
<br />
Here are the optional projects for August's project:<br />
<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Everything about my oldest sister is overflowing with beautiful, abundant, and uncompromising love. If people can be divided into givers and takers, she is a giver. A giver of hospitality, a giver of love, a giver of confidence, a giver of praise and, sometimes, a giver of hope. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">To me, she has always embodied this idea that very ordinary things become special with a little extra care. A pot of flowers on an old window sill, linens hanging in the sun on a breezy day, a bowl of fresh lemons. Where ever she is feels special because she attends to the details of comfort and beauty. More importantly, she attends to the people in her life - especially her sisters, nieces, and nephews. Beyond any shadow of a doubt, she has been my most ardent supporter. From encouraging me to go to college (and helping me through the process) to impressing upon me the idea that I can do anything with a little hard work, she has made my very ordinary life feel special.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">I saw a collage similar to this one in an issue of Stampington I saw a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I don't have the magazine so I can't cite with specificity. Anyway... I knew I had to make something similar for my sister when she bought her new home. I discovered that collage is a tremendously satisfying experience</span>.<br />

I think it's the crunchy way they feel in my hands and all the unexpected pockets and tags that keep me lovin' em. And they are make great gifts for an assortment of occasions. In keeping with my "use it up" theme, this little album used up the last of a K&Company packet of baby papers and embellishments that I bought a couple of years ago. Here is the cover and a couple of the inside pages:</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Most of the paper is CTMH "Notebook" - now retired. Most of the stamps are Tim Holtz and the embellishments are left-over bits and pieces.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The roses... I'm totally in love with paper roses. Glitter and glue = fun day. </span> Experimentation with with various rose-making techniques<span style="font-size: large;"> continues</span>. Here is the <a href="http://stamping-fantasies.blogspot.com/2009/12/rose-tutorial-at-last.html">tutorial </a> for these roses. I like pictures better than the You<span style="font-size: large;">T</span>ube tutorials<span style="font-size: large;">. The</span> videos just move too fast for me.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">The paper is the new Hooligans by CTMH, the ghosts and Jack-O-lanterns are Sizzix cutouts and everything else is leftovers from past projects. As you can see, I continue with the use-up-the-stash theme.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I suppose that's what happens when paper crafters go wrong - they tag with glitter.</span><br />

The one we made wasn't sewn at the edges. This uses the new "Mistletoe" Workshop on the Go kit. The kit includes a paper packet, a super cute package of poinsettia brads (really, SUPER cool) and a stamp set perfect for holiday stamping and scrapping. The punch for the evergreen boughs was an aged and worn contraption that would not produce evergreens until we really threw our weight into it. Happily, I have plenty of weight to contribute so we ended up with enough boughs.<br /><br />The ornaments were first stamped in black, then I stamped them again in different colors, cut them out and glued them over the black stamped image. That way I had black hooks. A dab of gold Stickles for the top of the ornament and the card was done.<br /><br />Happy Crafting!T.
